Dear Darek 56,
I'm sorry I don't speak Polish, though, I can understand well. Maybe you know Russian?
A few words about Sowejki. First of all, there was no folwarek Sowejki, only the manor Sowejki. It was founded at the end of the 18th century. After 1795 it belonged to U. Benigsen (1745-1826), the general-governor of Litwa. In 1840 the manor became the property of Konstantin Fadej Rdultowski (1804-1869) from miasto Snow (some 50 km from Sowejki). He graduated from Sorbonna University, was fond of poetry and literature, was a friend of Adam Mickiewicz. He even translated Sonety by Mickiewicz into English.
Unfortunately, he turned out to be a poor administrator, he went bankrupt and was forced to sell Sowejki to the Nowicki family, I guess, in 1851. From 1851 through 1939 Sowejki belonged to the Nowicki family. One building in the manor even bears on the wall the letters T-1900-N, i.e. Teofil Nowicki.
I attach a fragment of the Soviet 1:25000 map with Sowejki (the map itself was pictured in 1904) as well as a fragment of the Polish 1:100000 map. There's no Folwarek Sowejki, only dwor Sowejki.
The village Sowejki appeared only after 1944. That's exactly where my grandpa and grandma lived, they moved to Soveiki in the 1950s.
I guess, my brother has already contacted you. Maybe you have more pictures of Sowejki?! We would appreciate it very much.
